HOPPER, Ryan

Ryan passed away suddenly on February 27, 2023. Ryan Alan Hopper was born on June 25, 1975 at the North York General Hospital and raised in Owen Sound. Ryan went to OSCVI (the original) then studied Business at the University of Guelph and received a B. Commerce in Housing and Real Estate Management in 1999. He taught for two years at the Rick Hanson Collegiate in Mississauga. He also spent two years teaching in Antigua and made lifelong friends. Upon his return to Canada Ryan started teaching high school in Brampton. His most recent teaching assignment was with the Sandalwood Heights Secondary School where he taught for approximately fifteen years. He also coached and refereed a variety of sports. In September 2014 Ryan married Geetangeli Geer and they made Georgetown their home. Their life was filled with laughter, home cooked meals, hockey, all things Star Wars and a cat. Ryan will be dearly missed by his wife Angeli, his parents Ron and Karen (Couch) Hopper, sister Megan Hopper and her husband William Norton, nephew and niece Cade and Quinn Norton. He will also be missed by his parents-in-law Jairam and Jean Geer, brothers-in-law Tony Geer, his wife Danielle Mielcarek, and nephew and niece Ethan Geer and Gennevieve Geetangeli Geer and Andy Geer, his wife Amy Geer, his nephews Sebastian and Elliot Geer. Ryan will also be dearly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, his many friends, students, and members of the teaching fraternity. In celebration of Ryan’s life, a come and go memorial visitation will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter, Owen Sound Minor Hockey or the Owen Sound Ice Hawks.
