A pair of Owen Sound North Stars girls field lacrosse players are headed to the World Lacrosse Women's World Championships this week with a team from Halton Hills. Bree Wilkins has been asked to participate in the opening ceremonies of the 2022 world championships hosted in Towson, Maryland, from June 29 to July 9.

In the ceremony, Wilkins will carry the country sign for one of the participating teams in the world championships.

Wilkins plays on the Silver Maple Club team from Halton Hills with her Owen Sound North Stars under-15 teammate Taryn Weppler. The 30-team tournament kicks off with a game between Canada and the United States on June 29.

The Silver Maple team is participating in the under-14 division of the lacrosse festival running in tandem with the senior world championship.

The team will be competing from June 30 to July 2 and is in a pool with CLC 2027 Blue, Coppermine Ruby, and the Texas Nationals.
